Neelima Dalmia Adhar was born in Delhi on May 21, 1951. The daughter of the renowned industrialist Ramkrishna Dalmia and an eminent Hindi poetess and novelist, Padma Bhushan awardee Dineshnandini Dalmia, she grew up with six siblings in New Delhi.
She completed her Senior Cambridge from The Convent of Jesus And Mary, New Delhi before going on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Home Science from Lady Irwin College and a Master's degree in Psychology from the Delhi University with a specialization in Personality. She taught Psychology for a short while at the same university to undergraduate students.
She is married to Amitabh Adhar, a realtor and has two children, Mrinali and Yameer, a son-in-law Nishant Luthra and a granddaughter Shyraa.
She divides her time between writing and pursuing her interest in Poetry, Hindu Philosophy and the Paranormal. Her first book was a one-of-its-kind biography on her father titled “Father Dearest, the life and Times of RK Dalmia”. It is a widely acclaimed bestseller that made it to several international lists and earned her critical acclaim.
Her second book, “Merchants of Death” which is a highly controversial work of fiction also rode the best seller charts for a sustained period of time.
She is currently working on a book of non-fiction that is slated for releasein 2010.
